Metro Shorts: Season 7

On Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m., the Garneau Theatre will once again be home to Metro Shorts.

It is our seventh year doing this wonderful thing and the audiences and talent keep growing.

Two changes this year, the films can be no longer than 4 minutes (it used to be 5 minutes) and we will be suggesting that all film come to us via a file transfer site (Dropbox etc.). The four minute change is to try to fit more films into our night. We have an alotted time for our showing and would like to jam pack it. The file transfer site addition is because, well, we are living in the future and would like to take advantage of that fact.

Our past winners include Riley Beach, Simon Glassman, Goat Smash Media and our most recent winner, Andrea Beca.

Metro Shorts is an adjudicated short film event, hosted by Edmonton’s Mostly Water Theatre, that gives local filmmakers an opportunity to screen their work for a live audience and industry professionals, competing for a cash prize and the chance to be renewed. Produced by Metro Cinema, screenings take place in Garneau Theatre, (8712 109 St, Edmonton, ABT6G 1E9).

Filmmakers whose films are selected for inclusion will receive $50 CARFAC screening fees, with an additional $100 cash prize to be given to the winner of each event. There will also be a grand prize presented at the end of the season.

Metro Shorts dates:

Thurs. Oct.2 @ 7pm
Thurs. Nov.27 @ 7pm
Thurs. Jan.8 @ 7pm
Thurs. Feb.19 @ 7pm
Thurs. Apr.9 @ 7pm – Finale
